September 2005 saw the launch of From Here to Here: Stories Inspired by London’s Circle Line, a book by the writers’ collective 26. Each chapter features a different writer offering their personal take on a Circle Line station, through a mixture of narrative, poetry, memoir and reportage.

As part of a larger event at the London College of Communication, 26 wished to put on an exhibition specifically promoting the book and featuring brief extracts from each of its 31 chapters. (As well as the 27 Circle Line stations, there was the River Link, The Control Room, the ghost station Mark Lane and an extra chapter on King’s Cross to complete the circle.)

The only available budget was £550 to cover all print, production and expenses.

The solution involved several trips to car boot sales, a roll of vinyl tape and a large tin of yellow paint.
