Here, briefly, is how it all happened. I was born in Manchester and educated at its Grammar School. Then I went to Oxford and left with a BA Hons in English Language and Literature. I entered the world of copywriting via a trainee role at Bernard Hodes and went on to join a creative consultancy called Other. I was there for five years in all, under the various guises of writer, head of writing and eventually Managing Director. In 2002, I decided to forego management and concentrate on the part of my job I liked most – writing. Since then, I've freelanced on a wide variety of projects, with a particular leaning towards branding, tone of voice, conceptual and story-telling work.
